Table runners are so wonderfully simple to make and can really change the look of a room.
This fabric was given to me a few months ago and came all the way from Zimbabwe! It’s so gorgeous and the print had the perfect dimensions for this project.
All I’ve done is sew 2 lengths of fabric together and top stitched them for a flat finish. Easy! I also made it a bit shorter in the length so it’s not so tempting for my toddler to pull the whole thing off the table … flowers and all.
There’s no rules for dimensions … things like this have a lot of room for you to just be creative. But if you’d like a little more guidance than I’ve given you, check out ehow.com or this gorgeous post from Betz White.
I also whipped up some “no-sew fabric flowers” for the table after seeing this yummy tutorial by Dana. A very addictive project and one you can work on while tucked up in front of TV along with some chocolate and a nice drink. Instead of dowels I used twigs from the garden and I love the rustic look its added. A nice way to use up those fabric scraps you’ve been too loathe to throw out!
