Flowers in a Flash

These cute flowers are super quick and real easy to make.  All you need is some newspaper and thin wire. The idea is from the blog “Ruki Duki“.  They only have a brief tutorial in the form of a photo, but it’s enough to give you an idea of how this works.

I didn’t want to go buying wire just for this project, so I tried a few different options from around the house.  I tried twisty ties from the kitchen, fuse wire and an old bobby pin with some good flex in it.  They all worked really well, except the twisty ties didn’t allow much length for the flower stalk.

For the paper you can pick out text or photos from the newspaper for great effects.  Even textured paper or scrapbooking card works well too.

This is simple enough that I think any school aged child could have some fun with it too, so it’s worth having this up your sleeve for a rainy school holiday activity.  Not to say that us adults can’t enjoy it too.  I dream of having a cute vase of these next to my sewing machine in my imaginary sewing room (it’s also always sunny there, sewing projects ALWAYS work as they should and I’m not cooking dinner that night).  Ahhh, my happy place.
